In 2019, Baycrest Health Sciences implemented emPath HRIS as its Core HR application to centralize transactional HR work across the organization of approximately 2,000 employees. The emPath HRIS functions as the primary employee record system used by HR Coordinators, HR Business Partners, and managers to manage core HR operations and employee lifecycle events.
Configuration emphasized core HR modules including new hire onboarding, employee master data, internal transfers, terminations, leave management, benefits administration, pension enrollment, staffing requisitions, and employee change forms. Operational use documented for emPath HRIS shows HR Coordinators processing leaves, terminations, new hires and internal transfers directly in the system, completing Employee Change Forms and Staffing Requisitions on behalf of managers, conducting weekly new hire orientations, and processing pension enrollments into HOOPP and detailed benefits changes.
Recruitment and candidate workflows were orchestrated with Silkroad ATS used to post jobs and emPath HRIS capturing downstream hire and onboarding transactions after selection. The implementation supported an operational model where an HR Coordinator advised a portfolio of 15 managers and approximately 400 employees, acting as first point of contact for employee questions and liaising with HRBPs and managers for escalations that required further investigation or approval.
Governance and workflow controls were aligned to ensure manager decisions complied with company policies, the Employment Standards Act, and multiple collective agreements in a multi union environment including ONA, SEIU, and OPSEU. Processes were instrumented in emPath HRIS to standardize staffing requisitions, benefits and pension enrollments, and leave processing, with HRBPs engaged for complex cases and formal approvals.
