In 2019, BDP International implemented Coupa Expense to centralize finance and travel spend controls across its global operations. The deployment was positioned as an Expense Management initiative owned by finance and sourcing, targeting corporate card reconciliation, travel and expense policy enforcement, and digital receipt processing across the companys global sites.
Coupa Expense was configured to support expense report submission workflows, corporate card program management, automated receipt capture, and policy-based approvals. Functional capability workstreams emphasized automated reconciliation of card transactions and digitization of paper receipts, aligning Coupa Expense functionality with established P2P and accounts payable workflows.
The implementation integrated the new MasterCard corporate card program as a core payment channel, and the Coupa Expense dataset was connected into finance automation and RPA-enabled AP reconciliation routines managed by the finance operations team. Operational coverage included global travel and expense controls, SG&A spending governance, and coordination with payables and sourcing processes across more than 140 facilities.
Governance and rollout were led from finance with centralized policy configuration, travel and expense controls, and change management across sourcing and facilities teams. The program explicitly launched Coupa Expense together with the MasterCard program and delivered stated cost savings of $900k tied to the global expense and card consolidation effort.
