In 2020, Big Al's, Ltd. provisioned OnX Cloud as its Application Hosting and Computing Services platform to consolidate hosting for a portfolio of internal and B2B applications supporting franchising stores, online sales, wholesale and warehouse operations in Vaughan, ON. OnX Cloud provided the underlying compute and database hosting for multiple .NET based services and Angular front ends used across retail and B2B channels.
Implementation work included a Report System APP where front-end development used Angular, RxJs, NgRx and Ionic, REST API development used .NET Core 6, and persistence used MS SQL, with Azure DevOps as the development environment. The Live Stock System APP was developed as a B2B ordering application with Angular, RxJs, Ngx-bootstrap and Angular Material on the front end, ASP.NET Core 5 and MS SQL on the back end, unit tests applied during Web API development, and component and service documentation plus a user guide for application demonstration. The Inventory Management System APP was delivered as RESTful Web API services built on .NET Core and MS SQL, with front-end work in Angular, and process discovery conducted with warehouse workers and managers to align API services to inventory workflows.
Operational integrations and maintenance covered two external B2B storefronts, Pet Save APP in Canada and Royal Aquatic APP in the USA, where maintenance activity included .NET MVC and .NET Framework code fixes, invoice security updates, detached order email remediation, SQL Server query and stored procedure revisions, and ERP system data mapping investigations. The company changed its on-premises server footprint and updated all applications and stored procedures on the new infrastructure, working with OnX Canada to identify and resolve post-migration issues, while using Jira, GitHub and Azure DevOps for ongoing development and support.
Governance and delivery practices emphasized documentation and quality controls, teams documented every component and service, produced user guides, and implemented unit testing to reduce logic errors and improve code quality. The combination of hosted OnX Cloud infrastructure and disciplined development workflows aligned application services to business functions including warehouse management and store order management.
Outcomes reported by the business included reduced manual work and improved store order management from the Live Stock System APP, and overall improvements to warehouse management from the Inventory Management System APP, with OnX Cloud as the hosting layer for these Application Hosting and Computing Services deployments.
