The engagement delivered an IT refresh that focused on virtualisation and a resilient IBM V7000 storage cluster to modernise the airport's network and storage estate and address end of life infrastructure across its operational IT footprint.
SCC Managed Services was configured to include a consolidated virtualisation layer, resilient block storage through the IBM V7000 cluster, and network estate upgrades, complemented by platform monitoring and visibility tooling consistent with Infrastructure & Network MSP and Security MSP functional workflows. The implementation emphasized storage clustering and virtualization consolidation to increase platform resilience, and included operational management capabilities associated with Workplace & Communications MSP to stabilize user and systems connectivity.
The managed-services engagement scoped infrastructure and networking across Birmingham Airport's IT operations, improving operational visibility and reducing downtime during and after the migration. The engagement increased the organisation's security posture as reported in project communications, and shifted ongoing infrastructure lifecycle and monitoring responsibilities into the SCC Managed Services operating model to sustain resilience and serviceability.
