| Oracle | Oracle E-Business Suite | Oracle Cloud ERP | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2019 | 2020 |
In 2019 Block launched a phased implementation of Oracle Cloud ERP in the ERP Financial category, moving from Oracle E-Business Suite to a cloud native Oracle Cloud ERP architecture to address rapid growth and the burden of on premises infrastructure. The implementation was explicitly structured as a functional phased rollout, with procurement first in early 2019, finance in late 2019, and supply chain in 2020, reaching full production on Oracle Cloud ERP by mid 2020.
Block deployed Oracle Cloud ERP alongside Oracle Procurement Cloud and Oracle Supply Chain capabilities to standardize source to pay and core financial workflows, eliminate roughly 15 to 20 on premises customizations, and enable automation across procure to pay, invoicing, accruals, and intercompany reporting. Oracle Cloud ERP configuration emphasized standardized processes and reduced bespoke extensions, requiring data cleansing and reengineering of business rules rather than a simple lift and shift.
Integrations were built to connect Oracle Cloud ERP with Block's banking partners for supplier payments and to improve OCR driven invoice processing, while APIs expanded possibilities for chatbots and other automation. Operational coverage was global, with Block moving all employees onto a single cloud system to support international expansion and consistent reporting, and the company retained finance, procurement, and supply chain as primary business functions impacted by the implementation.
Governance and rollout relied on rigorous execution, comprehensive change management, and broad employee enablement, including organization wide training and standardized test cases to validate Oracle Cloud ERP quarterly updates in preproduction. Block established testing and checks and balances around the quarterly release cycle, shifted IT effort away from infrastructure management toward business partnering, and reduced the need for infrastructure focused administrators.
Block reports explicit business benefits from the Oracle Cloud ERP deployment, including standardized quarterly releases, reductions in most listed KPIs such as PO cycle time and invoice cycle time, streamlined M and A without infrastructure constraints, and a faster pathway to enter new markets. Block also cites higher availability for Oracle Cloud ERP exceeding 99 percent outside planned downtime, enhanced reporting across source to pay, and an expectation that self service cloud capabilities will reduce total cost of ownership over time.

| Visier | Legacy | Visier People Analytics | Workforce Analytics | HCM | n/a | 2016 | 2016 |
In 2016, Block implemented Visier People Analytics as its Workforce Analytics solution. The deployment was initiated under the leadership of Dr. Anna Merritt, Head of People Analytics at Block, Inc., with an initial focused rollout to the central people team.
Initial deployment targeted the people team and then broadened access to business partners, with a staged expansion that within about a year provisioned Visier People Analytics access to the entire manager population. Access criteria explicitly included any individual with at least one direct employee or a per diem relationship, shifting analytics consumption from a centralized people function to frontline managers and business partners.
Functionally the Visier People Analytics deployment emphasized Workforce Analytics capabilities common to the category, including manager-facing dashboards, headcount and attrition analysis, workforce planning views, and self-service people analytics for business partners. In 2020, Block migrated to the Visier People project and decided to enhance its Visier People Analytics offerings to extend those capabilities across a broader operational footprint.
Operational governance remained anchored in the people analytics function, with Dr. Anna Merritt overseeing phased rollouts, access controls, and the transition from specialist usage to broad manager adoption. The implementation narrative documents a progression from a people-team pilot to organization-wide manager access and an enhancement phase in 2020.
