| Infor | Infor XA | Infor LX | Manufacturing ERP | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2009 | 2010 | In 2009, Blonder Tongue Laboratories, Inc. upgraded to Infor LX as its Manufacturing ERP, executing a transition that replaced Infor XA and reflected an upgrade path from BPCS to Infor ERP LX 8.3.5. The implementation was anchored at the Old Bridge, NJ site and focused on supporting the company business functions for finance, purchasing, manufacturing work in process, sales order and returns processing, and marketing price list management. The Infor LX deployment encompassed explicit functional capabilities including inventory tracking enhancements, commissions and incentives processing, returns management, marketing price list tools, gross margin and royalty payment tracking, WIP summary reporting, uniques and commons bill of material cost tracking, purchasing priority shortage processing, and invoice cost tracking. Financial management workflows were included, covering month end closings, budget controls, and financial reporting consistent with Manufacturing ERP functional terminology. Architecturally the environment remained IBM i centric, with application extensions and customizations authored in RPG ILE and CL, operating on IBM i OS V7R1M0, and leveraging IBMi Access for connectivity. Data and process integrations were implemented using Query 400 and IQ Query for ad hoc reporting, IFS processing and file triggers for event driven actions, embedded SQL within RPG programs for inline queries, and Microsoft Excel based file transfers for end user data exchange. Operational controls included job and print control, printer maintenance, backup and restore procedures, and PTF application. Governance and operationalization were driven by the internal IT manager and senior programmer analyst role, which provided system security configuration, user security setup, message handling, documentation via Microsoft Word and Excel, and change control for programming and process updates. The rollout consolidated multiple manufacturing and finance workflows into Infor LX and required ongoing administration for data integrity, system backups, and interface maintenance. |
