In 2016, Blur Studio implemented FumeFX ScatterVL Pro as part of its 3D Modeling toolset for cinematic and film title work in the United States. The studio integrated FumeFX ScatterVL Pro into a broader visual effects toolchain alongside 3ds Max, Houdini and V-Ray to support title sequence and FX-heavy shots including the Deadpool title sequence.
FumeFX ScatterVL Pro was employed to drive smoke, fire and explosion simulations, providing artist-level simulation controls and iterative playback for shot-based work. Configuration emphasized scene-level simulation caches and shot asset management to enable repeated iteration during editorial and creative review.
Integration points with 3ds Max, Houdini and V-Ray supported render and compositing handoffs within Blur Studio's pipeline, enabling simulation exports and rendered elements to move into downstream compositing and lighting workflows. The deployment covered cinematic VFX teams and title sequence artists within the studio's United States operations and was used as a standard FX simulation tool for complex shots.
Workflow governance was adjusted to route FX-heavy shots into FumeFX-based simulation pipelines and to formalize simulation asset handoff and review processes. Blur Studio reported faster simulation iteration and improved creative throughput on FX-heavy shots by relying on FumeFX for smoke, fire and explosion simulations.
