| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2010 | 2010 |
In 2010 BOC UK & Ireland implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial platform. The deployment focused on corporate accounting and group reporting responsibilities for the parent company Linde plc and several corporate entities, supporting centralized accounting, statutory reporting and cash management across the United Kingdom and Ireland operations.
SAP ERP ECC 6.0 was configured to support core financial functions aligned with the ERP Financial category, including general ledger processing, accounts payable workflows, intercompany accounting and multi-currency handling to support month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations. Project-level configuration work included creation of an improved journal template to upload foreign currencies into SAP and establishment of a procure to pay process for the parent company, both measures intended to reduce manual effort and strengthen financial controls.
The SAP environment operated alongside Hyperion Financial Management and Smartview for corporate consolidation and reporting, creating an integrated reporting landscape between transactional ERP and enterprise consolidation tools. Operational coverage extended to the finance organization interacting with US-based finance teams, tax, treasury, group reporting, controlling and FP&A, while SAP was used to authorize payments including BACS and CHAPS and to drive intercompany reconciliations.
Governance centered on disciplined month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliation workflows and a single point of contact for external audit interactions for the parent company. Explicit outcomes recorded in the implementation context include recovery of incorrectly charged VAT amounts, reduced manual journal processing via the foreign currency upload template and removal of manual work through the new P2P process, improving controls and timeliness in statutory and parent company reporting.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP BW (Business Warehouse) | Data Warehouse | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2012 | 2012 |
In 2012, BOC UK & Ireland implemented SAP BW, also known as Business Warehouse, as its Data Warehouse platform. The deployment targeted finance planning, budgeting and management reporting across the UK and Ireland operation, providing a central reporting store for board level reporting. SAP BW (Business Warehouse) was positioned alongside an existing TM1 planning environment to support integrated planning and forecasting workflows.
The implementation replaced all conditional feeders in the TM1 model and established a business case review platform, a flexed budget implementation, and a designed and built intracompany charges model. Capacity planning capabilities were optimized for production and distribution and multiple budget and monthly forecasting cycles were supported, enabling recurring planning processes. A suite of management reports was delivered specifically for the Ireland Board to support executive decision making.
The technical architecture integrated SAP BW with SAP R/3 and a TM1 environment running TM1 9.5.2 and 10.2.2, leveraging rules and feeders, MDX, Active Forms, VBA and Excel as operational tooling. Data flows included automated output and input templates, notably 500 VBA driven templates to provide TM1 input and output for users without direct TM1 access. This arrangement positioned SAP BW as the Data Warehouse backbone feeding planning, reporting and consolidation layers.
Governance emphasized recurring budget and monthly forecasting cycles, with processes adapted to support intracompany charge accounting and capacity planning workflows. The engagement included model tuning, feeder optimization and automation of templates to broaden user access to planning outputs. Finance recognition was recorded, with Finance awards received both years on individual performance.
