| IBM | Legacy | IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON | IT Service Management | ITSM | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018, Banco de Brasilia implemented IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON as part of an IT Service Management initiative to strengthen mainframe monitoring and enable platform integration, automation and security. The bank had finalized the move to an IBM z15 mainframe in mid 2018 and sought to professionalize visibility and metric collection across its high platform environment to align with existing low platform observability processes.
The deployment centered on the IBM Tivoli Enterprise Portal and the IBM OMEGAMON Data Provider within the IBM Z Service Management Suite, enabling real time monitoring and historical data collection. Configuration included data collection from z/OS monitoring agents and the OMEGAMON for Db2 Performance Expert agent feature, with telemetry covering z/OS, IBM CICS Transaction Server, IBM Db2, IBM MQ, storage, network and Java components. Dashboards were created to surface operating indicators and statistics, and the IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON instrumentation was used to standardize visualization and alerting for mainframe services.
Integrations delivered by the implementation linked mainframe telemetry into the bank's broader observability stack, streaming information to Elasticsearch, Prometheus and Grafana and consolidating alerts with OpenSearch and Zabbix workflows. Operational coverage spanned IT operations and Db2 administrators and provided a unified view across mainframe and distributed environments, enabling the same monitoring processes and automatic anomaly actions regardless of platform origin.
Governance and rollout were executed through joint IBM monitoring team and BRB mainframe infrastructure team activities to define environments and secure configurations with agility. Alerting rules were enabled for Db2 archive storage pools, and a subsequent storage growth event triggered early notifications that allowed support teams to take corrective actions and avoid a Db2 on z/OS outage. The IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON implementation resulted in integrated observability dashboards, improved operational monitoring practices and strengthened infrastructure performance and security for Banco de Brasilia.
