In 2009, Brittany Ferries implemented IBM Maximo for Enterprise Asset Management to institutionalize computerized maintenance management and asset lifecycle controls. The deployment centered on IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6 with continued maintenance work on Maximo CMMS 5.1, providing a consolidated application platform for maintenance and asset data across ferry operations.
Implementation included application development and customization using the Maximo 7.6 framework, with development artifacts built in JSP following an MVC pattern and RMI interfaces for service calls. Reporting and analytics workloads were implemented using BIRT 4.3 and Actuate 5, and batch integration and data transformation were realized through Talend jobs tied into the Maximo configuration.
The runtime architecture used Java application servers and relational databases, specifically Tomcat and BEA Weblogic 6.2 in earlier stacks and Websphere 8 for later deployments, with SQL Server 2000 and 2012 as the operational data stores and T SQL for database development. Application and integration development leveraged Java, Grails, NodeJS and front end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript with AngularJS and JQuery, aligning custom modules with IBM Maximo functionality.
Operational governance followed Agile Scrum practices, with a lead developer responsible for backlog organization and a long running maintenance and development engagement from November 2009 onward based at the Roscoff site. Configuration management, ongoing maintenance, and application realization were embedded into engineering workflows to sustain IBM Maximo as the core Enterprise Asset Management system.

| GOSS Interactive | Legacy | GOSS iCM | Content Management | Content Management | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014, Brittany Ferries implemented GOSS iCM as its primary Content Management platform to transform its online customer experience. The deployment targeted customer-facing web properties managed by marketing and customer service teams, consolidating content authoring and publishing across corporate and route-specific sites. The implementation was delivered by vendor GOSS Interactive and positioned GOSS iCM as the central content layer for the company website.
GOSS iCM was configured to provide template-driven authoring, workflow-based approvals, role-based editorial controls, and multilingual content management to support France and international customer communications. The implementation emphasized reusable presentation templates, scheduled publishing, and digital asset governance to accelerate editorial operations and maintain consistent brand presentation across channels. These functional capabilities aligned with standard Content Management workflows for travel and transportation customer touchpoints.
Operational governance was restructured to centralize editorial ownership and introduce approval workflows for marketing and customer experience teams, shifting day-to-day content publishing into a controlled, auditable process. The case study reports that the GOSS iCM deployment transformed the online customer experience for Brittany Ferries, improving how content is created and presented to passengers across the company web presence.
