| SkyBitz | Legacy | SkyBitz Trailer Tracking | Fleet Management | SCM | n/a | 2017 | 2019 | In 2017, Brown Trucking Co renewed and expanded its SkyBitz trailer-telematics partnership, initiating a deployment of SkyBitz Trailer Tracking across its trailer fleet in the Southeastern United States. The company had an existing relationship with SkyBitz dating back to 2008 and positioned SkyBitz Trailer Tracking within its Fleet Management strategy to increase uptime and visibility for fleet operations. The deployment installed solar-powered SkyBitz Kinnect devices on trailers, creating an edge-layer telematics architecture that provided persistent power and continuous asset location telemetry. Configuration work focused on trailer-level instrumentation for geolocation, asset status reporting, and utilization data capture, with device reporting intervals and geofencing rules adjusted to operational needs. SkyBitz Trailer Tracking was integrated with Brown Trucking Co's transportation management system to forward geofence events, utilization reports, and customer-location visibility into billing and operational workflows. The TMS integration enabled dispatch, billing, and customer service teams to consume trailer location and status within existing transport workflows, supporting geofencing alerts and utilization reporting for operational use. The expanded program completed its main rollout roughly within two years after the 2017 renewal, with governance centered on fleet operations ownership of device installation and TMS data alignment for billing and customer-location accuracy. The implementation scope covered trailer assets in the Southeastern United States and emphasized operationalizing geofencing and utilization reporting to increase uptime and visibility for fleet operations. |
