| Workday | Legacy | Workday Absence Management | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | n/a | 2020 | 2021 |
In 2020, Bunnings Group deployed Workday Absence Management as a discrete component of a larger Workday HCM rollout. Workday Absence Management was implemented to deliver Absence and Leave Management capabilities across more than 54,000 Bunnings team members in Australia and New Zealand, providing a centralized HR-facing leave administration layer tied to payroll and identity services.
The implementation of Workday Absence Management was delivered alongside Core HCM scope that included Basic and Advanced Compensation, Recruitment and Onboarding, Learning, Performance and Talent Management, Expense Management, and Dashboard Reporting. Configuration work focused on standard absence workflows, entitlement modeling, approval routing and event-driven absence records, consistent with Absence and Leave Management functional patterns, and the program executed formal testing, cutover and change management phases.
Integrations were explicit to the program, with the Workday scope interfacing to ichris payroll for pay processing, Deputy for time and attendance linkage, Oracle EBS and Financials for transactional handoffs, Identity Management for account reconciliation, and recruitment and screening tools such as Xref, Predictive Hire and Broadbean. These integrations established end-to-end continuity between absence records, payroll calculations and identity provisioning across HR, Payroll and Technology operational teams.
Program governance included a delivery team structure with roughly 25 people combining Bunnings subject matter and technical experts plus vendor resources from Collaborative Solutions and Frontier. The rollout used steering committee engagement, regular leadership and Board updates, and established support teams within Technology, HR and Payroll to own ongoing operations and governance of Workday Absence Management.

In 2023 Bunnings Group engaged FCM Travel Solutions Outsourcing Travel and Expense Services as part of a Wesfarmers group appointment to centralize travel and expense operations across Australia and New Zealand. The contract followed a market tender and was announced as a group-wide travel management arrangement covering household brands including Bunnings Warehouse within the Wesfarmers portfolio.
FCM Travel Solutions Outsourcing Travel and Expense Services was implemented as a Travel Management outsourcing engagement delivering core capabilities typical of the category, including corporate travel booking and reservations, expense services and reconciliation, policy enforcement and approvals, traveller profile management, duty of care monitoring, and consolidated reporting. The deployment emphasized managed services for both travel and expense workflows, with configuration to enforce corporate travel policy and centralized supplier management.
Operational coverage was executed across 16 Wesfarmers businesses prepared for go-live, with direct operational scope in Australia and New Zealand and Bunnings Group included among the covered business units. Implementation activities referenced procurement leadership engagement, which guided program governance and supplier onboarding phases. The rollout approach was multi-entity and coordinated to bring multiple businesses onto the FCM-managed travel program.
