In 2020, Bupa deployed Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations to establish an enterprise financial backbone, positioning the application as the primary ERP Financial platform for core accounting and fiscal workflows. The implementation focused on consolidating finance, procurement, and accounting functions under Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations to standardize transactional processing and statutory financial reporting.
Configuration and functional scope concentrated on standard ERP Financial modules, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, cash and bank management, procurement invoicing, budgeting and financial reporting. The deployment included configuration of intercompany accounting and consolidation controls, chart of accounts alignment, and automation of period close workflows consistent with large scale financial operationalization.
Notes from Bupa's Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement program document use of Azure Power Apps, Logic Apps, Master Data Management, Multivue, Azure DevOps, Web API, SSIS, and KingswaySoft, and include work on integration between the BOSS appointment system and Dynamics 365 CE and on patient record deduplication. Those Dynamics program components and stated Data Migration and ETL skills indicate an existing integration and master data capability that informed data migration, master data consolidation, and API integration patterns for Dynamics projects at Bupa.
Governance and delivery practices reflected centralized finance controls and iterative development, with Bupa applying Agile delivery methods to its Dynamics initiatives. In 2020 Bupa implemented Pega Platform as part of a Business Process Management initiative to shift from a private health insurance oriented model toward integrated healthcare provisioning. The adoption of Pega Platform was scoped to unify customer engagement and service delivery across multiple business units and regulatory markets.
Bupa deployed Pega Customer Decision Hub on the Pega Platform to centralize customer decisioning, personalization and AI driven orchestration. Implementation activities included mapping a target state architecture to align business units around a common customer engagement engine and configuring decisioning rules and personalization capabilities to deliver hyper personalized health propositions.
The program integrated digital channels to enable seamless customer interactions and near end to end digital claims processing, and instrumented AI and automation to streamline operational workflows. Operational coverage included customer engagement, claims processing, product personalization and service delivery for offerings such as dental care, mental health programs and post maternal care across multiple regions.
Governance was organized around the target state architecture and the common engagement engine, with process redesign to support zero touch interactions and accelerated content delivery. Rollout emphasized embedding decisioning and automation into operational workflows and coordinating compliance and control across regulatory markets.
Bupa reported nearly 100% digital processing of claims with zero touch interactions becoming the norm, a 50% year over year improvement in engagement for personalized health programs, up to 50% reduction in time to market for personalized content and services, sustained high Net Promoter Scores in dental services, and returning over $1.3 billion to members in premiums for unrendered services during the COVID 19 pandemic.
