In 2015, CA Technologies deployed Microsoft Power BI to centralize Sales Operations reporting within its Analytics and BI portfolio. The program established a single point of contact for Sales Operations' BI and reporting needs, and it was led by a product owner who managed a team of developers using Agile methodology.
The implementation delivered a Microsoft Power BI dashboard that included row level security and a mobile first experience, providing a single point of view for each sales lead that highlights assigned account opportunities, Net Promoter Scores and account support tickets. The work included a consolidated reporting model and security configuration to enforce access controls at lead and account scope, consistent with Analytics and BI best practices for dashboards and role based access.
Earlier work from the same group produced a Gartner recognized sales reporting tool that leveraged Qlikview as the GUI, and the Power BI rollout followed the same reporting discipline while shifting primary consumption to Microsoft Power BI. Operational coverage was focused on the Sales division, aligning dashboards to sales lead workflows and mobile sales enablement.
Governance was structured around a single point of contact for ongoing BI requests, Agile sprint cycles for iterative enhancements, and formalized row level security policies to manage data access. The outcome was a unified Microsoft Power BI view for Sales Operations that surfaces account opportunities, Net Promoter Scores and support tickets at the lead level.
