In 2016 Calbee implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as an SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA deployment to rebuild its core ERP Financial environment. The project followed a decision made in September 2014 and the new system entered full scale operation in January 2016, replacing a more than ten year old SAP R/3 installation that had accumulated roughly 5,000 add-on programs.
The implementation focused on core financial and operational processing typical of ERP Financial systems, including centralized financial accounting, transactional processing, and accelerated reporting and analytics driven by in memory processing. Calbee pursued a configuration and simplification strategy that emphasized reduction of custom code, ultimately achieving a 98 percent reduction in add-on programs and simplifying daily operational procedures.
Architecturally the deployment was delivered as SAP Business Suite running on the SAP HANA platform, leveraging in memory data processing to shorten report extraction times and support faster management decision cycles. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 implementation consolidated business data and reporting onto the HANA powered stack, reducing the need for bespoke interfaces and extensive custom batch reporting.
Governance and rollout were aligned with a corporate management restructuring and an IT infrastructure review, guided by a policy to thoroughly reduce add-ons and streamline processes. Reported outcomes include a significant speedup in reporting, simplified operations across finance and related business functions, and the stated 98 percent reduction in add-on programs following the cutover.

Governance and process changes centered on data-to-token mapping, consent and attribution workflows, and campaign rollout coordination between marketing, CRM, and consumer engagement teams. The deployment positioned JR East Blockchain Platform as the ledger layer for loyalty orchestration while Calbee retained in-house application ownership of campaign logic and user segmentation.
