The technical stack ran on DB2 10 with AIX operating systems on IBM 6 and 7 series servers, and production systems used high availability clustered virtual partitions to support uptime and resilience.
Ongoing SAP Basis and technical operations for SAP ERP ECC 6.0 included system upgrades and migrations, for example an upgrade path through enhancement packages and a Unicode conversion of the SAP ERP 6.0 stack. In 2012 Camelot Group deployed SAP BW (Business Warehouse) as its Data Warehouse to support forecasting, planning and the optimisation of circa 37,000 lottery terminals across the UK retail estate. The SAP BW implementation centralized transactional and master data needed to forecast yearly events affecting the retail estate, to create business plans for Camelot and third party suppliers, and to provide recurring reporting used for quarterly target reviews.
The deployment implemented functional capabilities for capacity and terminal optimisation, forecast modeling, financial reporting and terminal accounting, plus invoice import and reconciliation workflows to manage over half a million pounds a month of engineering invoices. SAP BW versions referenced in operations included SAP BW 3.5 and SAP BW 7, and the environment was used alongside MS Access and advanced MS Excel for analyst feeds and ad hoc reconciliations.
Integrations populated the warehouse from SAP transactional sources and from commercial invoicing and logistics documents such as bill of lading and rollout/import plans, with inbound supply data covering imports into the UK from Asia and the USA. The operational scope explicitly covered supplier management, daily supplier performance monitoring, customs paperwork validation and coordination with lottery agents to ensure equipment verification and accountability.
Governance and process changes were embedded through SLA maintenance routines, daily supplier management and formal service reviews, with quarterly KPI reviews to surface uncertain probabilities in retail operations.
