The team created KPIs within the SSAS models and exported the SSAS cube to Excel for portability, while also building a PowerView HR report using the Tabular Model and DAX, and configuring workbook data auto refresh for workbooks deployed to SharePoint.
Operational governance and resilience were addressed through a DEV to Testing to Production migration path for cubes and reports, documentation of design and development artifacts, routine logging and auto restarting for SSIS packages, and use of database Snapshot technology for fault tolerance and data recovery. Automation and manageability were furthered by PowerShell scripts for SQL Server management, CLR functions in C# for advanced processing needs, and use of VM Ware to accelerate development and testing cycles.
