In 2016, Canon Australia implemented Converga InvoiceMe as an AP Automation solution, initiating a phased adoption across its finance organization. The deployment was executed in five phases, enabling controlled handover of processes and operational responsibilities to the Converga service model.
Converga InvoiceMe was configured to deliver core AP Automation capabilities including invoice capture and validation, automated workflow routing and approvals, exception handling and matching logic consistent with procurement and accounts payable workflows, and reporting and analytics functions. Configuration emphasized workflow orchestration and exception queues to support high-volume invoice processing and centralized control of approval hierarchies.
The implementation extended beyond software to an operational managed services arrangement, with Converga managing 140 roles across Finance and Accounting, Accounts Payable, Commercial and Analytics, and Contracts Administration. Operational coverage was organized around Canon Australia’s finance and commercial functions, embedding Converga-operated resources into invoice processing, contract administration related to payables, and analytics-driven reconciliation activities.
Governance changes accompanied the rollout, with phased role transitions and defined process ownership to align Canon Australia teams and Converga-managed resources. Process standardization and centralized AP processing were instituted during the five-phase rollout to ensure consistent controls, workflow governance, and operational handoffs between internal stakeholders and the Converga-managed service.
