In 2016, CareFirst BCBS implemented Oracle Cloud ERP to centralize core finance processes and reporting. The engagement focused on ERP Financial capabilities, deploying Oracle Cloud Financials and Enterprise Performance Management with Financials Accounting Hub configured as the primary accounting engine from an Owings Mills, MD delivery base.
As Lead Integration Architect and Project Manager the team blueprinted and designed the FAH based solution, defining the event model, line types, and mapping sets required for multi-stream financial processing. The implementation included configuring Financials Accounting Hub to route transactions into GL, designing a comprehensive reconciliation module, developing OTBI reports and BI scheduling, and producing MD50 functional design documentation and XML Publisher report designs.
Integration work was architected on an Oracle Fusion Middleware technology stack using Oracle APIs and file based interfaces, and leveraged Oracle Cloud platform services for Accounting Hub processing. Explicit data migrations and interfaces included conversion of AR open invoices and receipts, open purchase orders, and AP open invoices from Oracle E-Business Suite into Oracle Cloud ERP, a time entry interface from Amdocs to Oracle Time and Labor, project contract interfaces from Amdocs to Oracle Projects, AR invoice interfaces from DIMS to Oracle AR using REST APIs, and AP invoice interfaces from DIMS EDI to Oracle AP using REST APIs.
Governance and rollout followed a structured testing cadence with unit and integration testing, conference room pilot and user acceptance testing, and coordinated production deployments. The program facilitated JAD sessions across multiple teams for data mapping, account derivation rules and reporting requirements, articulated assembly and integration test plans for the FAH rollout, provided development guidance to technical teams, coordinated on-site and offshore development and testing activities, and managed product defects through Oracle service requests.
