Emburse Legacy Emburse Enterprise Expense Management ERP Financial Management n/a 2016 2016
In 2016, Cassels Brock & Blackwell implemented Emburse Enterprise for Expense Management. The deployment targeted finance and accounts payable functions across the firm’s Canadian offices, supporting a professional services population of about 800 employees. Emburse Enterprise was configured to manage expense capture, verification, approval routing and payment processing. Operational workflows implemented included review and verification of expense claims, processing of wire payments to vendors and reconciliation of prepaid and suspense accounts. The system also supported accounts payable activities such as invoice entry and cheque issuance used by the AP team. The implementation followed an operational transition away from Chrome River and leveraged existing user support practices for expense claims. Training and user support programs were established for assistants and accounts payable clerks to preserve continuity in expense processing. Processes for preparing journal entries for prepaid and accrual accounts were aligned with month end closing activities. Governance centered on role based approval workflows and documented backup procedures, including coverage for trust officer responsibilities and month end accounting tasks. Operational responsibilities covered end to end expense processing, vendor payment execution, reconciliations and journal posting within the firm’s finance organization.

In 2016, Cassels Brock & Blackwell implemented Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) to establish an Analytics and BI capability for firm reporting and database administration. The engagement delivered installation, administration and maintenance of SQL Server instances and provisioned test, development, staging and production environments across the firm IT and reporting functions in Canada. The Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) deployment concentrated on platform components including SSRS report development and support, SSAS analytical processing, SSIS ETL orchestration, and ongoing SQL Server instance administration. Configuration and operational work included design of a database backup and restoration strategy, monitoring of system alerts and backup schedules, plus database tuning and application tuning for sustained performance. Operational coverage emphasized IT operations, reporting teams and business users who consume reports, supporting practice group analytics and finance reporting workflows. Segregated environments for development, testing, staging and production enabled controlled report development cycles and release validation for SSRS and related services. Governance centered on scheduled monitoring, backup verification and performance monitoring, with SSRS report maintenance and support processes for development, maintenance and incident response. The implementation required ongoing administration tasks, alert management and backup schedule oversight to sustain the Analytics and BI platform.
