In 2018, Charles and Colvard implemented Microsoft Dynamics NAV to centralize core accounting and reporting capabilities. The rollout targeted the ERP Financial category and was scoped to support corporate accounting, month-end and fiscal year-end close, and the consistent recording of financial transactions across the business.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV was configured to deliver standard ERP Financial functionality including general ledger controls, accounts payable and receivable workflows, fixed asset tracking, and close orchestration, aligned with GAAP requirements. The implementation also supported FP&A and Treasury workflows, and was used to drive sales and use tax and VAT filing processes, plus the preparation of SEC reporting documents such as Form 10-Q and Form 10-K.
Operational governance placed administration and application configuration under the Corporate Controller, who maintained and identified improvements in the company’s reporting system, provided Dynamics NAV tools and processes to business users, and managed the filing process. Governance and review workflows extended to coordination with the CTHR Disclosure Committee, the CTHR Senior Executive Team, outside counsel K&L Gates, and auditor BDO as part of the documented review and filing procedures for ’34 Act filings.
