Microsoft Microsoft Dynamics NAV Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP Financial ERP Financial Management Business Automation Specialists of Minnesota 2018 2018
In 2018, Choice Products USA implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its ERP Financial solution, engaging Business Automation Specialists of Minnesota to manage the project and replace Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The implementation was scoped to replace manual accounting and reporting processes and to support Choice Products’ school fundraising product manufacturing and order fulfillment operations. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was configured to use Production Order and BOM functionality and Assembly-to-Order workflows, with a streamlined chart of accounts and dimensions configured to break down financials by company, department and sales person. The G.L. design was simplified to reduce account complexity, dimensions were used for transaction segmentation, posting into closed months was prevented, and production orders were configured to include packaging costs so finished goods and raw material consumption posted automatically. Integrations leveraged Business Central Web services modules to connect Choice Products’ custom order entry application and truck-loading, picking, packing and Bill of Lading processes, enabling the IT Director to convert orders directly into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. An ISV product was implemented to support credit refunds for third party individuals without creating permanent contacts, and operational coverage explicitly included Inventory, Production and Finance teams as primary users. Governance and rollout included a multi-month discovery and process mapping phase led by Business Automation Specialists of Minnesota, followed by customized training using Choice Products’ real data to accelerate user adoption and validate configurations before go-live. Reported outcomes from the deployment included reduced manual processes, elimination of many month end adjustments, more accurate product costing and inventory posting, faster month end close activities for the Controller, and observable efficiency gains across inventory and reporting functions.
