In 2010, Chubb implemented Microsoft Power BI as part of a broader Analytics and BI initiative across its Switzerland operations and global business units. The program began as a data strategy and analytics charter presented to SVP and C level executives, establishing executive sponsorship and a mandate to centralize reporting and decision support.
The implementation encompassed Business Intelligence, Data Science, Decision Support, Enterprise Data Warehousing, Enterprise KPI Dashboards, Master Data Management, Data Integration, Data Governance, data visualization with Microsoft Power BI, and machine learning capabilities. The team led database portfolio management and built out capabilities in big data, Hadoop and Hive, ETL, SQL, R and predictive analytics to feed standardized EDW and dashboard layers.
A key technical move was migrating data from on premises systems to the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, aligning cloud storage and compute with Power BI visualization and analytics services. The Power BI team established secure global deployment patterns, and integrated EDW feeds and data integration pipelines to support Global Financial Planning and Analysis, corporate strategy analytics, and operational BI across business functions.
Governance work streamed master data management, data governance policies, and data privacy controls into the rollout, while the Power BI team enforced security and SaaS deployment standards for global consumption. Operationally the program centralized analytic workflows for FP&A, BI, data science, and decision support, and created an enterprise grade architecture to sustain analytics and BI capabilities at scale.
