In 2015 CIEE Council on International Educational Exchange implemented Oracle NetSuite ERP as an ERP Financial system to centralize Finance and accounts receivable operations. The deployment focused on financial core functionality to support program billing, multi-currency invoicing, cash receipts posting, general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes across CIEE’s foreign and domestic program activities.
Oracle NetSuite ERP was configured to support accounts receivable workflows and collections management consistent with the Accounts Receivable Specialist role, including invoicing of program fees in multiple currencies, posting cash from multiple revenue streams, and maintaining receivables aging for follow up. The implementation emphasized billing and AR subledger capabilities, automated posting to the general ledger, and structured journal entry and reconciliation processes used during month-end close.
Operational coverage extended to the Finance business unit that services CIEE’s study abroad, inbound exchange, and J-1 visa sponsorship programs, aligning system ledger structures with program revenue streams and international operations. The system also supported coordination with external collection agencies for aged receivables and centralized record keeping for program participant correspondence and payment histories.
Governance and process workstreams included developing and implementing accounting procedures informed by existing practices, reviewing and posting adjusting entries during close, and using NetSuite as the authoritative AR and GL platform. Configuration and procedural changes targeted clearer reconciliations, standardized invoicing and collection workflows, and consolidated financial posting practices within the ERP Financial environment.

In 2015, CIEE Council on International Educational Exchange deployed Domo as its core Analytics and BI platform to standardize reporting for international study abroad operations. The initiative centered on project based work to roll out a new evaluation survey tool, Qualtrics, and to integrate response data into Domo, working closely with internal constituents and IT project managers to develop visual reporting and ensure data validity.
The implementation emphasized configurable dashboards and data validation rules in Domo, with development of visualizations tailored to program management and student experience analytics. The team developed standard operating procedures for Study Abroad programs to capture complicated multi department workflows, and managed the migration of student evaluations and user experience surveys into Qualtrics, Salesforce, and Domo for approximately 10,000 users annually.
Integrations in scope included Qualtrics survey response pipelines and Salesforce data feeds consolidated into Domo for unified reporting, with external vendors engaged to support specialized visualization work. Operational rollout included coordinated training sessions and delivery of tools to staff across more than 40 countries, and project communications targeted an international workforce spanning 30 plus countries and 60 plus cities.
Governance and process work accompanied the technical build, with IT project managers and program managers establishing general governance, dashboard stewardship, and workflow handoffs between academic, operations, and marketing teams. SOPs and governance artifacts were used to codify data ownership, validation checkpoints, and release procedures for new dashboards.
Outcomes documented in the program included creation of Domo visualizations representing user experience and identification of drivers of NPS within those dashboards. With the Strategy and Marketing team, the project also supported campaign development to increase student feedback on third party websites.
