In 2018, Cisco Systems implemented Workday Absence Management. The deployment replaced UKG Workforce Central Absence Manager (ex Kronos Workforce Absence Manager) and defined the strategy, global processes, and solution roadmap to digitize Time and Absence solutions across 90+ countries, establishing Workday Absence Management as the Absence and Leave Management system for HR and payroll operations.
Cisco held global decision making authority and accountability for Time and Absence product delivery from requirements gathering to configuration, reporting development, testing and implementation. The implementation included configuration of global time tracking and absence management policies, simplified approval workflows guided by Cisco core values, and development of reporting and exit functional testing artifacts. A global product team including a product owner, scrum master and business analysts managed requirements, product development and more than 3,000 test cases during iterative development.
Integrations and operational coverage were centered on Finance and Payroll for audit and compliance requirements, with explicit coordination to ensure payroll and compliance reporting were addressed. Rollout was executed to users in 90+ countries and included service rehearsals to train super users, plus collaboration with the change management team on work instructions and end user training. The program managed cross product owner impacts and operational risks during configuration and testing.
Governance comprised centralized decision authority, agile product development oversight and release governance under a global model that tracked risks and removed obstacles. Outcomes recorded in the program include exit functional testing with zero defects, delivery on time and on budget, and formal recognition of the team as the best product team within the program. Cisco Systems Workday Absence Management therefore represents a global Absence and Leave Management implementation with documented governance, testing discipline and cross functional compliance integration.
