Exela Lockbox was configured to provide core AR Automation capabilities including high-volume payment capture, optical character recognition and verification, data entry workflows, exception handling and reconciliation, and posting-ready payment files for the city general ledger. Configuration emphasized automated qualification of remittances and structured exception queues to support downstream posting and cash application.
Operational workflows referenced in the implementation show use of Pay Courier Citrix for data entry and verification tasks, and Turboscan for mail opening and scanning tied to a Fifth Third Bank lockbox account, with payment processing activities covering accounts such as Discover, Duke Energy, City of Charlotte receivables, and Centurylink. The Exela Lockbox implementation therefore bridged bank lockbox capture, scanning operations, and accounts receivable posting for finance and utility billing teams.
Governance centered on accounts receivable and cashiering process controls, standardizing remittance qualification, verification throughput and exception routing across municipal finance and utility billing operations. Exela Lockbox served as the operational hub for AR Automation within City of Charlotte finance workflows and payment intake governance.
