In 2019 the City of Fort Lauderdale implemented Meridian Career Development within a Talent Management deployment for municipal HR and Learning and Development. The deployment targeted a workforce of approximately 2,200 employees across city departments, explicitly addressing both desk and deskless employee access to training through a centralized Meridian LMS implementation.
Meridian Career Development and the Meridian LMS were configured to support blended learning delivery and integrated content consumption, with explicit integration of OpenSesame content and single sign on for streamlined authentication and accessibility. Functional capabilities emphasized in the implementation included course delivery and enrollment management, blended learning workflows that combine instructor led and self paced content, and centralized content aggregation using the OpenSesame integration.
Operational ownership rested with the City of Fort Lauderdale Learning and Development function, extending system access citywide to municipal departments and frontline staff to standardize training assignment and participation. The implementation increased training participation and supported a more sustainable professional development approach, positioning Meridian Career Development as the Talent Management platform for employee development use cases described in the case study.
