Governance included revisions to interviewing practices and screening procedures to maintain legal compliance and improve process efficiency, driven by Talent Acquisition leadership. The program operated within a managed budget of approximately $30,000 for events and member resources, and broader recruiting process changes tied to the Sterling Background Check rollout contributed to reported hiring manager and candidate satisfaction metrics in internal surveys.

In 2021, CNA Insurance deployed AppWorx Workload Automation as part of its Business Process Management tooling to centralize job scheduling and workload orchestration for developer-built Node.js and Angular application components. The deployment positioned AppWorx Workload Automation to control batch and scheduled workflows that interface with transactional Oracle databases and external API endpoints used by the CNA application estate.
The implementation configured AppWorx Workload Automation job definitions to schedule calls to third party APIs and to execute Oracle database functions and stored procedures, integrating workload triggers with existing ETL and logging services. Scheduling capabilities supported dependency sequencing, retry handling, and scripted job steps that complemented the application runtime, while developers used AppWorx to operationalize recurring processes invoked from the Node.js and Express middleware layer.
AppWorx Workload Automation operated alongside CNA’s CI/CD and observability stack, with build and release pipelines in Jenkins and source control in GitLab. The broader runtime integrated with Nginx reverse proxying on Azure AppService instances, Oracle DB for persistent transactions, Apigee gateway for API protection and caching, Splunk and Azure Application Insights with OpenTelemetry for telemetry and alerts, and Office 365 for configured notification delivery. Infrastructure automation used Terraform modules to manage AppService scaling, Azure Traffic Manager and WAF configurations, maintaining workload scheduling within the cloud-native delivery and monitoring fabric supporting CNA’s business process automation.
