In 2018, Grupo CTT implemented SAP S/4 HANA as an ERP Financial platform to centralize accounts receivable and billing workflows across the finance organization in Portugal. The deployment was oriented toward core financial processing, invoice issuance, corrective billing, and order to cash controls supporting mail and logistics customer contracts.
Implementation emphasis was placed on Accounts Receivable capabilities and electronic invoicing within SAP S/4 HANA, configured to manage invoice issuance, corrective invoices, customer account statements, and PO to invoice updates. The program also designed and deployed robotic process automation solutions to automate invoicing related processes including indemnities, regularizations, second copy issuance, and customer account reconciliations, and a robot for processing two way transactions was created in 2023.
Operational scope included integration with digital billing platforms and compliance routines to support faturação eletrónica and regulatory billing standards, and the SAP S/4 HANA instance supported close collaboration between Accounts Receivable and commercial teams. Billing operations fed KPI and SLA dashboards and provided administrative support for auditors, reflecting end to end billing coverage within the ERP Financial system.
Governance and rollout activity included SAP project support and user acceptance testing in 2019, structured order to cash process training for staff on SAP R/3, SAP S/4 HANA and RISE, and continuous improvement initiatives to redesign workflows and support departmental optimization. Cross functional incident resolution, onboarding and defined performance reviews were embedded into the operating model to sustain the SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial deployment across finance and commercial functions.
