In 2020, Credit Agricole Italy implemented IDEMIA GREENPAY for Card Personalization to introduce 100 percent recycled PVC payment cards into its card issuance portfolio. The deployment centers on card production and personalization workflows delivered by IDEMIA GREENPAY, aligning physical card materials and personalization throughput with the bank’s sustainability objectives.
IDEMIA GREENPAY was configured to support physical card personalization and contactless payment enablement, including secure data encoding and standard card security features typical of Card Personalization environments. The solution handles material specification and personalization sequencing for cards manufactured from recycled PVC, and it is designed to preserve payment security while enabling contactless transactions.
Operational coverage for the rollout included issuance to customers from first issuance of prepaid CartaConto cards with IBAN and the Easy Cash debit card, both of which were provisioned as 100 percent recycled PVC physical cards for everyday and international use. The implementation impacts card operations, payments and issuance functions within the bank, and integrates IDEMIA’s card production and personalization services into Crédit Agricole Italia’s product delivery for these card types.
The implementation is part of IDEMIA’s broader GREENPAY initiative launched in October 2020, and it explicitly emphasizes environmental benefits such as lower carbon emissions, reduced natural resource consumption through recycled PVC derived from production waste, and alignment with circular economy principles.
