In 1999 Delta Pronatura implemented SAP R/3 as its ERP Financial system, with a go-live completed in November 1998. The deployment consolidated financial and operational recordkeeping across the Neu-Isenburg manufacturing and sales organization.
Configuration centered on financial modules including customer profit and loss accounting and asset accounting, while shipping processing and production and warehouse management were integrated into the SAP R/3 environment. An EDI module and an internal mail system were introduced to improve communication with retailers and trading partners. Data migration involved transferring data from the Siemens Nixdorf Comet system using migration tools from SNI combined with Delta Pronatura's own conversion utilities.
Implementation activity was executed in cooperation with Command AG from Ettlingen, aligning cutover and process workflows across production, sales and warehouse functions. Operational scope included order- and customer-related production for export and stock-based domestic production driven by integrated sales and demand planning in SAP R/3. Governance centralized statistical reporting so management had access to current statistical data at any time.
The rollout removed duplicate data entry caused by previously isolated systems and delivered greater transparency in production and sales, while communication with retailers improved through the added EDI capability.
