In 2020, DAP Global implemented SAP Digital Manufacturing as part of a Manufacturing Execution System initiative to formalize plant maintenance and link production execution with enterprise processes. The project centered on embedding SAP Digital Manufacturing and SAP plant maintenance functionality into DAP Global’s manufacturing operations.
The implementation configured SAP PM to support maintenance managers, planners and technicians, with tasklists, master data structures and maintenance plan transformation. Spare parts procurement and management were restructured in SAP MM, while external maintenance procurement processes were implemented and tied into FI accounts payable procedures. Project deliverables included business blueprint and data requirement sessions, design documents, user manuals and training materials.
Integrations were a core element, SAP PM was integrated with SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud via data replication and SAP Cloud Platform Integration CPI, and interface configuration was completed with FICO, MM and PP to align maintenance, procurement and production processes. The team extracted, transformed and loaded master data into SAP to enable business validation of maintenance plans and master records. All client manuals were transferred into DMS info records and assigned to the respective tasklists to centralize maintenance documentation.
Rollout activities included targeted user sessions for maintenance managers, planners and technicians, development of a repeatable template design for additional plant PM implementations, and post go live user support to address adoption issues. Governance was established around maintenance planning, spare parts procurement and FI A/P integration to standardize workflows across manufacturing sites.
