Epicor Legacy Epicor Building Supply Inventory Management SCM n/a 2020 2020
In 2020 Dartmouth Building Supply implemented Epicor Building Supply as a cloud-based Inventory Management application to scale distribution operations and support continued expansion. The company had evaluated platforms in 2016 and selected Epicor for its building supply domain functionality and SaaS deployment model, then executed a hosted deployment with dedicated project management and hosted support. The implementation delivered core inventory control and business intelligence capabilities, accounts payable automation, and a phased Warehouse Management Solution rollout that remains in progress. Epicor Building Supply, leveraging Epicor BisTrack functionality, provided an intuitive Windows-based interface that accelerated onboarding and constrained nonviable customizations through built-in checks and balances. Operational coverage extends across warehouse operations, accounts payable, sales and customer account workflows, and executive business intelligence. AP automation reduced the staffing requirement from four people to one for accounts payable processing, WMS is being deployed to reduce inventory errors and speed new-employee productivity, and a web store initiative is underway to modernize customer-facing order and account management. Governance changes included a disciplined review of procedures to define new best practices and tighter process controls enforced by the application, which the executive team credited with freeing managers from day-to-day minutiae. Project management, technical support, and hosted support were described as rock-solid, and DBS reported that Epicor BisTrack capabilities have helped enable a minimum of 10% per year growth while liberating resources to invest in new equipment.
