In 2020 Dayco Europe implemented Minitab as part of its test engineering and R&D analytics stack, deploying the Minitab application to support statistical and signal analysis workflows. The deployment targeted laboratory and test bench analysis in Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy, and was positioned within the company R&D organization to support engineering validation and NVH characterization. This implementation is categorized under Analytics and BI and is used directly by testing engineers and quality analysts for data-driven decision making. Minitab was configured to support core functional capabilities consistent with engineering analytics, including statistical analysis, time and frequency domain workflows, FFT and order analysis, filtering, and frequency response function analysis. The Minitab application was used alongside measurement and acquisition processes to analyze sensor streams from accelerometers, torque sensors, strain gauges, pressure and temperature sensors, and microphones, enabling conditioned data sets and hypothesis testing workflows. Analysts used Minitab to perform quantitative quality investigations and to document test results that feed into engineering reports and validation artefacts. Operationally the Minitab deployment was integrated into existing toolchains, with engineers using Minitab in concert with data acquisition software such as Rotec Ras and data preparation tools including Excel, and with geometric measurement systems such as Polyworks, FARO, and DEA for fused analysis. The rollout emphasized cross functional collaboration, linking R&D activities with quality, production, and prototyping teams, and supporting joint projects with automotive OEMs and suppliers. Governance focused on embedding repeatable statistical workflows within test procedures and on standardizing data analysis methods across test engineers and quality practitioners.
