In 2014, Destination NSW implemented SAP Business ByDesign to consolidate core financial and administrative workflows. The deployment targeted ERP Financial capabilities and focused on centralizing invoice processing, expense controls and approval routing across the agency's communications and administrative functions.
SAP Business ByDesign was configured to support accounts payable operations including high volume invoice processing and corporate credit card reconciliation, and to manage purchase order approvals and budget monitoring. Functional configurations included approval workflows for purchase orders and corporate card transactions, expense reconciliation, and employee master data elements used to address payroll-related queries and onboarding needs. The implementation used standard ERP Financial terminology such as accounts payable automation, procurement requisition approvals and budget control to describe operating procedures.
Operational coverage centered on the Communications division where staff processed invoices, escalated budget exceptions and administered leave and corporate card approvals, while designated users performed onboarding and training on SAP Business ByDesign. The scope included user administration, login and access setup, and training for new employees to transact finance and administrative tasks in the system. Payroll issues and employee setup were handled in conjunction with the ERP records and associated administrative workflows.
Governance and process restructuring formalized approval workflows for leave requests, purchase orders and corporate credit card transactions, and introduced documented onboarding procedures to streamline user provisioning and training.
