| FIS Global | Legacy | FIS GETPAID | AR Automation | ERP | n/a | 2007 | 2007 |
In 2007 Direct Energy implemented FIS GETPAID to support AR Automation for collections and customer service, deploying the application to manage the Texas Account Database which represented 40% of all Direct Energy accounts. The implementation targeted online collections workflows to control delinquency through debt restructuring, account disconnection and reconnection, and coordinated resolution of customer issues by cross-functional teams.
FIS GETPAID was configured as collections online software with modules and workflow automation for account-level restructuring, scripted collector actions, and event tracking for disconnection and reconnection processes. The deployment emphasized embedding policies and procedures into system workflows to standardize collection activity and escalation rules.
Operational coverage centered on collections and customer support teams responsible for Texas accounts, with direct day to day use to process restructuring decisions, execute reconnections and manage dispute resolution. The program included training and leadership of temporary employees to align workflow processes and habits with system-driven tasks and team performance goals.
Governance included documented policies and procedure rollouts and hands on training to reshape collector workflows, plus ongoing team collaboration to surface and implement operational fixes. The implementation was cited as critical in reducing customer past due percentage and lowering bad debt totals.

| Workday | SAP HCM (HR) | Workday HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2016 | 2017 |
In 2016, Direct Energy implemented Workday HCM, replacing SAP HCM, to centralize its Core HR functions and establish Workday HCM as the primary human capital management application. The deployment focused on consolidating employee master data and standardizing HR workflows across the enterprise HR organization in the United States.
The implementation included modules for human capital management, benefits administration, talent and performance management, absentee management, compensation including bonus cycles, and time recording, with Workday HCM used to centralize organizational and payroll-related personnel attributes. Workday HCM was positioned as a single source of truth for HR data, enabling faster configuration and iterative changes in core HR processes.
Implementation teams developed interfaces to link Workday HCM into SAP systems that continued to power payroll and other downstream SAP consumers, preserving existing payroll processing while migrating organizational data into Workday. This integration pattern maintained continuity for payroll operations and allowed Workday to feed organizational data to downstream SAP processes.
Governance and operational controls emphasized rapid configuration cycles and tighter change control, with the HR team executing more than 400 configuration changes within months compared with the prior SAP HCM cadence. The program planned consolidation of multiple learning management systems onto Workday Learning, and introduced controls to limit direct edits in SAP by maximizing allowed hires and removals from SAP before prohibiting further changes.
