The deployment impacted accounts receivable and remittance processing functions, consolidating inbound payment image capture, document routing, and workflow-driven exception handling within the Exela Lockbox environment.
Governance and operational ownership were structured around the service relationship with BancTec, with BancTec operating centers executing day to day processing and BancTec systems providing the image capture and workflow engines. In 2020, Discover Financial Services, a Capital One Company implemented Workday Absence Management as part of an enterprise-wide human capital strategy. The Workday Absence Management deployment sat inside a larger Workday HCM footprint that included HCM Core, Compensation, Absence, Talent and Performance, and reported into an internal enterprise architecture practice responsible for cross product area alignment.
Configuration and functional rollout focused on Workday Absence Management configuration and Workday Security, with emphasis on master data design and entitlement models. Typical functional capabilities implemented included absence plans, eligibility and accrual rules, time off request and approval workflows, and absence balance tracking, integrated with core HR and payroll-related employee records to ensure consistent absence and leave data across the HCM suite.
Integration architecture leveraged Workday integration patterns and tooling, including Workday connectors and Workday Studio, and used Web Services, XML and API based interfaces such as WSDL, SOAP and REST for inbound and outbound flows. Integrations explicitly targeted adjacent HR and administrative domains, linking absence events to Payroll, Compensation, Benefits administration and Learning Management System processes, while operational interfaces with ServiceNow were supported for case management and employee service workflows.
Governance and delivery were managed through a formal Workday Architecture and Design process, with enterprise architects driving configuration standards, security controls and integration design. The approach emphasized automation of manual processes, continuous improvement of integrations, and a governance loop that connected EAIS, Security and Data teams with product area architects and executive stakeholders to maintain alignment across lines of business.

The Infosys Finacle implementation focused on core modules and configuration work including batch processing configuration, product setup, general ledger setup, payments processing and funds availability rules. Core systems management responsibilities covered parameterizations, version release deployment and customizations to align product and accounting behavior with Discover business rules.
Data migration and testing formed a central element of the program, with business lead responsibility for data mapping specifications, migration balancing procedures, data quality and validation, and pre and post conversion cleanup to mitigate migration fallout. UAT leadership coordinated interfacing systems testing for payments, including EFT, item processing, ACH PEP plus, CheckFree and CashEdge, as well as internet banking and online account opening, and implementation testing leveraged lower non production environments to simulate live conversion events through account conditioning and migration file delivery for more than ten events.
Project governance combined project portfolio management, coordination of installs and testing with business partners and weekly project status meetings. Change management processes included review of all project change requests to identify conflicts and dependencies and provide guidance on prioritization and criticality.
The program explicitly included risk mitigation and migration fallout handling and realized net savings of over $600,000 by executing migration process design and test events in house, demonstrating cost avoidance tied to the in house migration and validation approach.
