SAP Legacy SAP Financial Supply Chain Management (SAP FSCM) AR Automation ERP Financial Management n/a 2011 2012
In 2011, DS Smith implemented SAP Financial Supply Chain Management SAP FSCM to support accounts receivable automation under the AR Automation category. The deployment focused on enterprise credit control and the operational management of month end close activities for the Industrial Division, establishing SAP Financial Supply Chain Management SAP FSCM as the system of record for credit workflows and transactional AR processing. Configuration centered on credit control capabilities within SAP FSCM, aligned with the finance team responsibilities for overall transactional processing, credit control and preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts. The implementation supported generation of the monthly management pack, including narrative reporting, CAPEX reporting and KPI reporting, and was coordinated with commercial activities such as post cost calculation and margin review under the Commercial Excellence programme. The SAP Financial Supply Chain Management SAP FSCM instance was integrated into the broader SAP landscape, with explicit operational ties to SAP FI, CO and MM and with the SAP Planned Maintenance PM implementation fully integrated to FI, CO and MM. Operational scope covered finance transactional processing and credit control across the Industrial Division and included streamlining of SAP processes for SCA UK plants and handling of completion accounts following the acquisition of SCA Packaging by DS Smith. Governance and process transformation accompanied the technical deployment, led by regional SAP key users for FI, CO and MM and supported by a Lean in the Office programme focused on reengineering commercial processes. The rollout included management of fiscal responsibilities such as VAT returns, intrastats, ECSL, PSA returns and P11D filings, and established controls for internal and external audit relationships and ad hoc management reporting. Project experience recorded in 2011 includes management of transition back to local transactional processing and the implementation of SAP FSCM credit control as part of broader commercial and finance process initiatives. The SAP Financial Supply Chain Management SAP FSCM implementation was positioned to centralize credit control operations within DS Smiths existing SAP governance and finance operating model.

Workday Legacy Workday Benefits Benefits Administration HCM n/a 2023 2023
In 2023 DS Smith implemented Workday Benefits within its Benefits Administration environment to centralize employee benefits configuration and enrollment across its global HCM footprint. The initiative positioned Workday Benefits alongside existing Workday Payroll and Compensation capabilities to create a unified Compensation and Benefits operational layer for HR and payroll functions. Workday Benefits was configured to support core benefits administration workflows including benefit plan configuration, eligibility rules, enrollment processing, and life event handling, while remaining integrated into compensation processes such as Merit Review workflows. The deployment emphasized in-system configuration capability for payroll, compensation and benefits, reflecting requirements for hands-on configuration and technical support within Workday. Integrations were scoped to work with Time and Attendance and Absence inputs that feed payroll calculations, ensuring benefit eligibility and payroll deductions aligned with recorded time and absence data. Operational coverage included HR, payroll, and compensation and benefits teams, with governance routed through the HCM Global Process Controller role based in London, England, to coordinate global process standards and stakeholder engagement. Governance and rollout responsibilities centered on a Payroll, Compensation and Benefits subject matter expert who provided ongoing support, defined processes, ran testing cycles, and drove the future roadmap for benefits configuration and process improvements. The implementation prioritized process definition, testing and stakeholder management to embed Workday Benefits into DS Smiths wider HR and payroll operating model.

SAP Legacy SAP S/4 HANA Credit Management (FIN-FSCM-CR) Credit Union Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2018 2019
In 2018, DS Smith implemented SAP S/4 HANA Credit Management (FIN-FSCM-CR) as part of its SFR programme to centralize Credit Union Management capabilities across finance and procurement support functions in the UK and Europe. The work was scoped as a multi release programme focused on standardizing credit control and integration with core financial processes. The implementation of SAP S/4 HANA Credit Management (FIN-FSCM-CR) was delivered alongside core modules including FICO, FSCM Credit Management, Material Management, Sales and Distribution, Plant Maintenance, Procurement and SAP BI/BO on HANA, with HR processes running in Workday. Functional configuration emphasized credit exposure monitoring, credit limit controls and embedding credit checks into order to cash flows, aligned to record to report and procure to pay process streams. Delivery used a phased approach of six releases and rollouts, deploying into Benelux, Netherlands, Iberia and the South East region across 20 sites, establishing a common credit control model across those operating units. Integrations explicitly included SAP FICO and MM modules and reporting through SAP BI/BO HANA, while HR related workflows interfaced with Workday for employee and organizational context. Programme governance combined centralized test management with delivery oversight of SAP GRC and security controls, with responsibilities for offshore team coordination and transition into a support model. Later releases brought new benefits linked to R2R, P2P, Q2C, PM and HCM processes, and included improvements related to materials procurement, master data for materials and vendors, inventory management and invoice verification.
