In 2023, EirGrid implemented Submit.com Grant Management to manage applications, evaluations and reporting for its Community Benefit Funds in Ireland. The Submit.com Grant Management deployment centralized application intake, evaluative decision workflows and reporting pipelines for community grants administered through third party fund administrators.
Functional configuration emphasized application intake forms, evaluation workflow orchestration, role based access controls and audit trails to support transparency and traceability across review stages. The platform supported real time monitoring dashboards, case management for applicant support and standardized reporting outputs to meet EirGrid governance requirements.
The implementation operated through fund administrators SECAD partnership and M-CO, establishing handoffs and shared visibility so administrators could process applications while EirGrid retained consolidated reporting and oversight. Operational scope covered Community Benefit Funds across Ireland and impacted grant administration, evaluation and stakeholder reporting processes, improving real time visibility, applicant support and efficiency of reporting to EirGrid and stakeholders.

In 2023, EirGrid used Energy Exemplar PLEXOS in partnership with Mott MacDonald for its Tomorrow's Energy Scenarios TES 2023. The deployment applied Energy Exemplar PLEXOS to run multi scenario capacity expansion and short term studies that informed Ireland's path to high renewables and net zero targets.
The implementation emphasized capacity expansion modeling and short term dispatch scenario analysis within Energy Exemplar PLEXOS, parameterizing renewable buildout trajectories, storage resource options, and reliability constraints. Configuration workstreams included scenario orchestration, stochastic sensitivity runs, and alignment of model assumptions to Irish system characteristics to support multi scenario planning.
Operational scope focused on transmission and system planning in Ireland, supporting EirGrid transmission planners and policy analysts. The work was delivered in collaboration with Mott MacDonald, with PLEXOS outputs used to produce policy relevant findings on renewable buildouts, storage needs, and reliability tradeoffs that informed TES 2023 conclusions.
Governance relied on iterative scenario validation and cross stakeholder technical review to ensure results were policy relevant and auditable. Energy Exemplar PLEXOS functioned as the central Analytics and BI application for these analytical workflows, linking technical modeling to planning and policy decision making.
