Epicor Legacy Epicor Compass Analytics and BI Analytics and BI n/a 2019 2019
In 2019, Ellis Home and Garden implemented Epicor Compass to centralize retail analytics and reporting as part of its Analytics and BI capabilities. The deployment tied analytics directly to the company’s multi-site retail footprint across Louisiana and Texas, which includes five permanent retail locations, three seasonal retail sites, an online store, and greenhouse operations. The implementation configured Epicor Compass alongside Epicor Eagle Performance Manager to deliver automated, real-time reporting and standard dashboards. Key functional capabilities implemented include automated weekly revenue and margin reports by department, Market Basket analysis and Top 25 Items reporting, promotion performance tracking through Epicor Dynamic Promotions, and loyalty program reporting for Epicor Eagle Loyalty. These modules were used for merchandising analytics, inventory prioritization, promotion assessment, and finance-level margin visibility. Epicor Compass was integrated operationally with the Epicor Eagle N Series retail business management solution and used in concert with Eagle Mobile Manager for store-level mobile visibility. Store managers and buyers used Eagle Mobile Manager to scan items, view cost, stock levels, gross profit, and outstanding orders at point of decision, and the analytics output from Epicor Compass fed into inventory transfer and replenishment actions. The implementation also leveraged Epicor Training on Demand and onsite themed training sessions for go-live support. Governance and process changes accompanied the rollout, including a standardized Monday reporting cadence for department revenue and margin review, weekly Top 25 Items reviews for stock balancing between stores, and promotion governance using item-level promotion performance data. Onsite trainer support during go-live and sustained access to Training on Demand institutionalized operational workflows for point of sale, purchasing, and promotions. Reported outcomes from the implementation include a year-to-date gross profit increase of 2.2 percent and an approximate 15 percent reduction in inventory value that freed up over $500,000 in cash flow. The loyalty rollout reached 30,000 members within the first year, and Finance and merchandising leaders gained near real-time visibility that replaced delayed month-end speculation with actionable departmental and category-level insights.
