In 2008, Encyclopaedia Britannica implemented Vindicia CashBox as its Subscription and Recurring Billing platform. The engagement was led as an implementation and QA team lead for the Vindicia CashBox recurring billing solution supporting both Britannica and Merriam Webster subscription services, each exceeding $1M in annual sales. Operational scope covered the Consumer, Institutional and Technical Support departments, aligning subscription operations and billing teams to a centralized subscription lifecycle management process. The Vindicia CashBox deployment addressed standard subscription and recurring billing capabilities including billing schedule orchestration, payment authorization and reconciliation workflows, subscription lifecycle management, and dunning and reporting controls, with test plans and QA signoff governing production readiness. The program required coordination with concurrent customer service workstreams, including a separate project to transition Britannica CS from Kana and Siebel onto Salesforce, and established release governance, test case management, and cross-team cutover procedures to minimize disruption across billing and support functions.
