In 2026, Energia Group UK implemented Workday Financial Management as its ERP Financial platform for finance and procurement functions. The SaaS deployment was procured with Kainos as the implementation partner and replaces SAP ECC6, reflecting a move to a single sign on, modular ERP Financial architecture to simplify a systems landscape that previously integrated with over 12 business systems.
Workday Financial Management was configured to deliver core Financial Management capabilities including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable with Supplier Portal, requisitioning, purchase ordering and receipting, Fixed Assets, Cash Management and Group Consolidation, with reporting and dashboarding across ledgers. The implementation also included Expense Management, partial Inventory Management to capture stock-related financial transactions and Vendor and Contract Management functionality, aligning system configuration to support procure to pay processes and financial consolidation requirements.
The program retained integrations to critical business systems explicitly named in the procurement, including Maximo for asset and inventory management, C2M for customer billing and Endur for market data, while replacing SAP ECC6 as the core financial engine. Process Director and SRM are noted as existing components of the procure to pay workflow, and the Workday Financial Management deployment was scoped for phased, modular rollouts to add planning and sustainability reporting capabilities later as required.
Governance and operational change focused on auditable administrative processes, built-in segregation of duties across roles, workflow approvals and data tagging to enable user-created reports and dashboards. Kainos provided SaaS implementation and ongoing support services, including system process documentation and training to support multi-stakeholder decision making and to institutionalize contract lifecycle, KPI reporting and supplier-facing notifications within the new ERP Financial environment.
