Microsoft Legacy Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2018 2019
In 2018, Ensign Energy implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its ERP Financial application to centralize finance and maintenance workflows across drilling operations. The deployment included moving ERP systems to Microsoft Azure, establishing a cloud-hosted architecture that supported operations in Canada, the US, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Dubai. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was configured and extended using C/AL to support functional modules for rig maintenance, finance, HR and payroll, and manufacturing purchase order approval. Ensign Energy created and revised reports, pages, tables and CodeUnits to meet requirements from multiple drilling divisions, and developed XMLPorts to export finance data for external audit purposes and to submit T4 data to government systems. Integrations connected handheld technician devices, an iPhone incident reporting application and a web application to Business Central through custom Web Services and CodeUnits. A CodeUnit was authored to read the Incident Report SQL database, create incident records in Business Central for TRIF reporting and mark records as processed, while Business Central Web Services exposed endpoints on a separate server to transfer maintenance work orders. PowerBI dashboards and reports were developed to provide maintenance operations intelligence. Operational governance emphasized written business requirements, documented testing, user sign off and controlled promotion to production, with projects aligned to SOX, Agile, Waterfall and the Systems Development Life Cycle. The combination of Business Central extensions, XMLPorts and web services supported auditability and regulatory reporting across Ensign Energy business functions.

Microsoft Legacy Microsoft Dynamics AX HRM Core HR HCM n/a 2011 2011
In 2011 Ensign Energy implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX HRM as a Core HR initiative to centralize HR operations across its Canada, US, and international operations. The deployment focused on embedding the Dynamics AX HRM HR module to support employee records, workforce administration, and role based position management across the enterprise. The implementation extended beyond core personnel data, with Ensign Energy leading parallel projects to deploy an Enterprise Payroll Time Capture and Evaluation system and a Global Enterprise Health and Safety system. Microsoft Dynamics AX HRM was configured to serve as the authoritative HR record with workflow and configuration aligning to payroll time capture and HSE incident and compliance workflows. Integrations were executed between Microsoft Dynamics AX HRM and multiple downstream applications, described as complex integrations between several applications during implementation. The program included vendor selection activity, more than ten vendor engagements, and RFP processes to establish system interfaces and ensure data flows across Canada, US, and international sites. Governance for the Microsoft Dynamics AX HRM rollout was centralized under an IT and HR partnership, with a team structure that included three business systems analysts providing implementation and support services. Ensign Energy led requirements discovery, developed business specifications, managed vendor relationships through RFPs, and recommended and implemented business process improvements to align HR, Payroll, and HSE operations with the new Core HR platform.
