In 2020 Entertainment Magpie implemented Google Looker Studio (ex. Data Studio) as its primary Analytics and BI platform to centralize paid media reporting for the musicMagpie UK and US brands. The deployment focused on marketing performance, campaign testing workflows, and executive reporting, and the platform was positioned as the single visualization layer for paid search and paid social insights used by the paid media team and the board of investors.
Google Looker Studio was configured with purpose-built dashboards and calculated metrics to support paid search, shopping and social performance analysis. Configuration work included scheduled data pulls and refresh schedules, templated performance reports for campaign testing plans, and visualization modules for spend, ROAS, conversion trends and shopping feed health. The platform was used to produce regular investor and internal reports and to surface insights that guided creative production and campaign iteration.
The implementation consolidated data through Supermetrics and direct Google connectors, ingesting data from Google Analytics, Search Ads 360, Google Ads and Google Ads Editor, while also pulling campaign and market signals from Productcaster, Semrush and Google Insights. Data sources for Meta, TikTok and Bing paid channels were incorporated into the reporting fabric, enabling cross-channel comparisons and unified media measurement across UK and US operations.
Governance centered on the paid media organization with repeatable report templates and a cadence of reporting to the wider team and board, supporting testing plans from concept to launch. Dashboards were explicitly used to measure the growth of the rental proposition across paid channels, with the rental offering achieving 59% plus revenue in its second year, and to monitor efficient use of multi channel budgets exceeding seventyfive thousand pounds. The implementation emphasized operational visibility and standardized reporting workflows for campaign performance and investor updates.
