In 2008 Epson Europe BV implemented SAP Business Suite as its SAP Business Suite ERP Financial platform to centralize sales information and marketing processes that support revenue generation. The deployment focused on sales and CRM centric business functions, with the application serving as the primary ERP Financial backbone for commercial policy enforcement across Epson EMEAR.
Configuration work centered on CRM process design and automation, including the SAP Portal Quotation Tool and automated rebate calculation and payment workflows that run across EMEAR. The program combined SAP ECC6 application configuration and Business Warehouse reporting capabilities to harmonize commercial policy rules and deliver consolidated sales and rebate analytics.
Operational coverage included first line support for the SAP Portal Quotation Tool community and the SAP CRM system, with the business analyst acting as the main contact for CRM projects, requirements gathering, process analysis, and specification delivery. Change workstreams and issue management were coordinated with central IT and offshore consultants, while functional support, testing, and end user training were provided to sales and marketing teams across the region.
Governance and process management were formalized through documented As Is to To Be business change artifacts, blueprints, and training materials, with sole responsibility for detailing CRM area changes. Upgrade support was provided to the central IT team for platform moves from SAP 3.1 to 4.6 and from 4.6 to ECC6, and the harmonization and best practice efforts were recognized with an Outstanding Achievement Award in March 2012.

| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Dynamics CRM | CRM | CRM | n/a | 2008 | 2008 |
In 2008 Epson Europe BV engaged Avanade to implement Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 as a front-end application, with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 as the backend database and MS SQL Reporting Services 2008 for business intelligence. Epson Europe BV implemented Microsoft Dynamics CRM, a CRM solution, to provide a flexible platform for tracking procedures and standard sales activities across its sales cycle.
The implementation configured core CRM capabilities including account and prospect management, lead and opportunity management, activity management for email, calendar, contacts, appointments, telephone calls and tasks, and resource management workflows. Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 was integrated with Microsoft Outlook to embed CRM workflows into day-to-day sales operations, reducing training overhead and aligning user interface habits with operational processes.
Architecturally the solution positioned Dynamics CRM 4.0 as the application layer, SQL Server 2008 as the transactional and integration layer, and Reporting Services 2008 as the BI and querying layer. The SQL Server 2008 deployment increased scalability, security and performance while also providing greater flexibility in integration with SAP BW systems for acquiring customer and sales information, and Reporting Services 2008 enabled a centralized and localized reporting system for both operational and analytical queries against the Epson CRM database.
To satisfy multi-country requirements, multitenancy and multi-currency features were activated to enable country-level management within the CRM instance, supporting channel partners, end users and local sales teams. Reporting governance was structured to deliver both centralized oversight and localized access, aligning operational reporting needs with analytical queries required by end users.
Results documented in the deployment show Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 providing a more structured approach to sales, enabling teams to manage acquired and potential customer information, support leads and opportunities effectively, and facilitate day-to-day operations and resource management. The integrated CRM, database and reporting architecture, combined with Outlook integration and SAP BW connectivity, was positioned to increase efficiency across the sales organization and to provide a scalable, secure platform for ongoing CRM operations.
