| SAP | Legacy | SAP HCM (HR) | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014 Essex County Fire and Rescue Service implemented SAP HCM (HR) as its Core HR application to underpin a coordinated Occupational Health and wellbeing program. The engagement included a parallel implementation of an eOPAS Occupational Health system to replace paper records and spreadsheets, with SAP HCM (HR) positioned as the authoritative HR master source for employee data used by Occupational Health and senior management reporting.
The implementation delivered configuration and process workstreams for Occupational Health case management, secure long term medical record storage, and a staff portal for employee submissions and manager report access. Business processes were documented as current and to be states, test scenarios and scripts were created and coordinated for user acceptance testing, and a step by step business as usual guide was produced to enforce consistent operational use.
A technical integration was implemented through an automated interface file from the SAP HR system to the eOPAS Occupational Health application, created with support from the IT department to enable ongoing data exchange for personnel records and reporting. Operational scope explicitly covered the Occupational Health department, HR functions, and senior managers across the Service, with the portal used for staff input and managers running reports from the system.
Project governance was centralized under a single project manager who managed the budget and project plan from vendor selection through to implementation, chaired the stakeholder User Group to validate portal requirements, and led a multi senior staff Project Team to define a two year Wellbeing Strategy and implementation plan. The program improved the quality of management information and automated reporting, reducing quarterly reporting from four days to five minutes, while also formalizing governance, UAT procedures, and BAU operations for Core HR and Occupational Health workflows.

| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft 365 | Collaboration | Collaboration | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service deployed Microsoft 365 as its primary Collaboration platform. Public site source code indicates Microsoft 365 services are surfaced alongside the organisation web properties, reflecting an enterprise SaaS tenant deployment model provisioned for cloud collaboration and content delivery.
The Microsoft 365 implementation centers on core Collaboration capabilities, including cloud email and calendaring, intranet and document management, team chat and conferencing, and user file sync and Office productivity applications. Configuration details visible externally align with a tenant that provisions SharePoint Online style content hosting and Office 365 productivity tooling to support operational and administrative workflows.
Operational coverage appears organisation wide, applying to both frontline operational staff and central support functions, with identity and access managed through Microsoft 365 identity services consistent with Azure Active Directory tenancy. The deployment supports standard collaboration workflows such as document sharing, team communications, and centralized content publication from the cloud tenant to public web pages.
Governance is consistent with centrally administered tenant controls for user provisioning, role based access, and content lifecycle management using Microsoft 365 native compliance and administrative features. The implementation reads as a standard Microsoft 365 Collaboration footprint integrated into the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service digital estate, with governance and security controlled at the tenant level.
