Chainlink Foundation Legacy Chainlink Platform Blockchain Platform Blockchain n/a 2020 2020
In 2020, Ether Cards integrated the Chainlink Platform to consume Chainlink VRF as a verifiable random number service for its NFT tooling. The Chainlink Platform is a Blockchain Platform delivering tamper proof randomness that Ether Cards used to add provable chance and rarity into tokenized experiences. The implementation embedded Chainlink VRF as the RNG module responsible for generating provably rare NFT traits, enforcing fair distribution of NFT drops, and introducing elements of pure chance that trigger dynamic card behaviors such as discounts, gated access, feature unlocks, physical item linkage, and upgrades. Configuration focused on wiring Chainlink VRF request and response flows into Ether Cards' dynamic card engine and token minting metadata pipelines, and the integration was completed in two days with support from Chainlink Labs. At the architecture level the Chainlink Platform integration connected on chain randomness requests to smart contracts and the Ether Cards front end, enabling project teams using the Ether Cards self service platform to invoke verifiable randomness from within existing minting and distribution workflows. Operational coverage included product engineering, token issuance and community management, with Chainlink VRF serving as a shared service for any project deploying NFTs through Ether Cards. Governance and process changes centered on replacing bespoke or unreliable RNG approaches with Chainlink VRF, conserving development time and resources and reducing technical risk associated with randomness. Outcomes explicitly reported after integrating Chainlink VRF include $24M in total sales, 6k plus unique Chainlinked NFTs purchased, and a two day integration timeline, and founder Andras Kristof noted the choice was driven by Chainlink VRF offering verifiably fair, tamper proof randomness and straightforward integration support.
