In 2004, Fastenal implemented Oracle PeopleSoft ERP as its core ERP Financial platform to support distribution finance and procurement operations. Subsequent Fastenal work included PeopleSoft 9.2 customizations and operational interoperability with PeopleSoft 9.1 modules reflecting an evolved PeopleSoft footprint across accounting and procurement functions.
Configuration and module work focused on accounts payable controls and procurement workflow automation, including AP-Matching customization and the design and deployment of Approval Workflow Engine for vouchers, requisitions, and vendor approvals. The implementation included development of batch processes to sync journals and ledgers and build of automated job flows to enforce financial posting and reconciliation sequences.
Integration design used PeopleSoft Integration Broker to synchronize data between HRMS and FSCM, and Autosys was used to orchestrate daily and nightly batch process flows. Operational coverage spanned finance, accounts payable, procurement, and HR interfaces, with explicit integration points for journal and ledger synchronization between PeopleSoft instances.
Governance and delivery practices were developer driven, with lead developer responsibilities including analysis, design, build, peer review, and technical mentoring. Business analysts worked alongside technical teams to configure application controls and acceptance workflows, while batch scheduling and error handling were formalized in Autosys job definitions to support ongoing operational processing.

| In-House Applications | Legacy | In-House ATS | Applicant Tracking System | HCM | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015 Fastenal implemented an In-House ATS, an Applicant Tracking System, on their website to centralize external candidate intake and online job posting. The In-House ATS is a web-facing, internally developed recruiting platform embedded in Fastenal's career pages, operated by HR and talent acquisition teams to manage application flows and candidate engagement. Deployment focused on a hosted web application model that surfaces job requisitions and the candidate apply experience directly on Fastenal.com.
The implementation concentrated on standard Applicant Tracking System capabilities, including job posting and apply workflows, candidate tracking through hiring stages, a candidate portal for application status, resume intake and parsing, interview scheduling workflows, and configurable requisition management. Operational coverage centers on recruiting and HR functions, with role-based access controls and centralized candidate records to support consistent hiring processes and internal workflow orchestration. Governance emphasized configuration-driven workflows and recruiter administration of requisitions and candidate stages, with the In-House ATS serving as the authoritative source for external applicant data collected via the company website.

| IBM | Legacy | IBM Maximo | Enterprise Asset Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2016 | 2016 |
In 2016 Fastenal implemented IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management platform to centralize maintenance, repair and operations procurement and spare parts management. The deployment focused on using IBM Maximo to instrument core asset and inventory records and to provide a single source of operational data for MRO activities.
Configuration emphasized inventory and spare parts modules, requisition and purchase order workflows, receipt and invoicing transaction recording, and maintenance work order management. IBM Maximo was used to manage spare parts minimums and maximums, trigger reorder logic, replenish stock room items and recognize part usage against work orders, reflecting Fastenal experience with registering requisitions, purchase orders, receipts and invoices.
Operational coverage included maintenance departments, procurement and logistics coordination tied to distribution site spare parts stock rooms and sales support functions. The implementation supported supplier relationship activities by enabling data-driven supplier negotiations and logistics coordination, and it captured transactional flows for parts replenishment and inventory control.
Governance and process changes were executed through project-managed rollouts and weekly operational reporting, with teams tracking compliance with key performance indicators for daily operations. IBM Maximo supported standardized workflows for requisition-to-receipt processes and inventory governance while enabling adherence to Fastenal internal and federal regulatory requirements.
