| Workday | Legacy | Workday HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2025 | 2025 |
In 2025, Fire and Emergency NZ implemented Workday HCM as its Core HR platform. Workday Human Capital Management was first selected in 2023 and over the subsequent 18 months the solution was fully designed and configured for the FENZ environment to support a coordinated go live with payroll.
The implementation centralizes workforce data to unify paid staff and volunteer records and emphasizes employee and manager self service to improve user experience. Configuration work for Workday HCM focused on delivering real time reporting and analytics to leadership and HR, and on intuitive interfaces intended to drive adoption across frontline responders and support staff in dispersed locations.
FENZ selected a third party payroll solution alongside Workday and is executing an integration program to synchronize HR and payroll systems for a simultaneous go live. Integration planning explicitly covers payroll interfaces, secure data exchange, and alignment of master data to reduce parallel HR systems and strengthen data integrity.
Operational scope includes HR, payroll, leadership and managers across New Zealand, with governance and change workstreams oriented to improve operational processes and enable HR to operate in a more strategic capacity. The deployment positions Fire and Emergency NZ to scale Core HR capabilities and to consolidate workforce management on Workday Human Capital Management while maintaining flexibility for future functional needs.
