In 2010 Fujitsu General Australia implemented Epicor ERP in an ERP Financial capacity across its Australia and New Zealand operations. The implementation targeted core financial and distribution functions within the manufacturing business and was deployed into an IT environment managed by the company across seven locations.
Epicor ERP was configured to support the organization’s financial and distribution modules, and a new version of Epicor was implemented in conjunction with a CRM solution and SharePoint 2010. The deployment included desktop standard operating environment builds and ongoing support for Windows XP through Windows 7 on roughly 150 endpoints, plus provisioning of remote access for management and sales staff.
The application ran alongside an infrastructure composed of Windows 2003 to 2008 servers on VMware, Exchange Server 2010, SQL Server 2000 through 2008, VERITAS Backup Exec 10, Norton Antivirus server, Barracuda web and email filters, and SAN storage. As part of the program the IT team implemented Riverbed WAN optimization and a VOIP phone system across the private network and consolidated physical hardware.
Operational governance remained within the internal IT department with seven day per week on call coverage and daily operational tasks including user account creation, backups and restores, patch management and virus protection. Infrastructure changes reduced the physical server count from 25 to a managed set of 5 servers plus a single SAN, supporting Epicor ERP availability and centralized financial and distribution workflows.
